Christmas Tree Recycling

Kick starting our green initiatives at Bowhouse, this year we are offering to recycle real Christmas trees by chipping and composting them. Once the compost is complete we will then use it on the plots and land around Bowhouse reintroducing the carbon stored in the tree back into the soil. Hopefully this initiative gives people another option of how to dispose of their tree and not putting it to landfill which equates to increase methane when the tree has broken down.

We have set up a Christmas tree drop off point around the back of Bowhouse in a bay clearly marked for anyone who wishes to drop off their tree, free from all decorations, by 20th January and we will take care of the rest. Simply follow the directions for deliveries and you cannot miss it.

For anyone closer to the St Andrews area, the Fife Coast & Countryside Trust are also looking for old trees, working with The Links Trust to protect the West Sands Dunes from erosion.
