SPACE TO BREATHE return to Bowhouse this Summer with Making Waves; Breaking Ground a group exhibition organised in collaboration with Purdy Hicks Gallery
For their third annual exhibition in Fife’s picturesque East Neuk, a selection of works by eleven international and Scottish artists across painting, photography and film will explore the natural environments of our modern world.
This year’s presentation at Bowhouse, St Monans marks a new collaboration between SPACE TO BREATHE organisers Sophie Camu and Alexander Lindsay, and the London-based Purdy Hicks Gallery. Their combined curatorial skills will bring together eleven internationally recognised artists, many of whom will be exhibited in Scotland for the first time. Making Waves; Breaking Ground will be open from 19 July – 31 August 2025, with a short break from 6 – 15 August.
In this exhibition, traditional concepts of landscape art are upended, reinforcing the urgency to rethink our relationship with the land and the evolving human connection to the natural world. Making Waves; Breaking Ground will feature works by artists Julie Brook, Samantha Clark, Susan Derges, Jonathan Delafield Cook, Sandra Kantanen, Alexander Lindsay, Katherin Linkersdorff, Jorma Puranen, Anaïs Tondeur, Santeri Tuori and Sue Arrowsmith.
First Session: 19th July – 4th August
Second Session: 16th August – 31st August
