Futtle is a small, organic brewery being set up in the former stable block at Bowhouse by Lucy Hine and Stephen Marshall.

While work continues on the brewery installation, the couple have opened a taproom, bottle shop, record store and community space which is open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from midday.  There are regular events, gigs and courses, more details for which can be found at www.futtle.com.

In the taproom, they serve natural wines, sherries and ciders, organic cocktails and some guest beers.  They also make their own small-batch fermented sodas and kombuchas.  Children and dogs are very welcome.

Triassic Tusk Records lives at Futtle and runs a record store there, selling rare and new vinyl records.

The brewery is fully accredited by the Soil Association (making it the only accredited organic brewery in Scotland) and is specialising in farmhouse styles that will allow the incorporation of foraged ingredients from the coastline, hedgerows and fields surrounding Bowhouse.  Water for brewing is taken from an onsite borehole and in time, all of the barley will come from the fields outside.  Some of the first beers are available to try now on tap exclusively at the brewery.

As well as beer, the couple has started to bottle their own organic house spirits (under the company name East Neuk Organic Brewing & Distilling Ltd), which are imported and then macerated and blended with foraged seaweeds and botanicals.  Their first release is an Organic Spiced Rum which is available to buy directly from the brewery.
